Well...did you remember the part that when Harvey Dent & Rachel was talking? They can hear each other. That means even if that's 2 different addresses, they're damn close. And Batman didn't look shocked at all when he saw Harvey instead of Rachel. Therefore I don't think that explanation was right.

He has to die though, so the director had him trying to hurt the child. Children and animals (almost) never die in Hollywood films. So when you see someone tried to hurt children, he's dead meat.

About Rachel & Harvey talking...I don't see the phone being off-hook. That's some very old phone, and if the director want us to know that they're talking via the phone, they will put the phone off-hook, so that the audience knows. And the sound effect doesn't sound like through the phone. It's more like they're in the same warehouse like place but couldn't see each other?

And joker has used phones as bomb detonators throughout the movie. Remember that guy who has a phone bomb buried in his chest?

Wow, massive confusions on imdb.com forum too. Someone actually bothered seeing the movie 2nd time to clarify the Rachel/Harvey choice scene. Some people do think Rachel & Harvey are at the same spot, caus their surroundings looks exactly the same; however there is another guy who said he noticed that

the phone in front of Harvey is off the hook.

So this is the key. I look forward to confirm this when I can see it again ;)

Thanks for the reminder dude. However, on a side note, some storylines of this movie is so confusing that even if I tell the whole story here, most people would still walk into the cinema not really knowing a single thing about the movie.

周围环境好像不大一样吧. 我记得rachel是在一个阳台一样的地方,外面是空的

而harvey明显是在室内.........

而且tnnd如果在一个地方, 他干吗单独派gordon去, 他把gordon放到自己摩托车后座不就两个一起救了么

He simply fed him with it. Of course, if you think the whole thing over critically, there are lots of loopholes. For example, how could members of the police squad not recognize there’s a stranger among them? How did the Joker manage to set up so many traps all by himself? Who put the poison into the Police Commissioner’s drink? How could the Joker have loaded two ferries with explosives without being noticed at all, etc?

Just came back from seeing this movie, totally confused. Personally I think this movie is over rated and does not deserve #1 on imdb....Probably I should watch it again with subtitles....
