it's about inventory management and for job inteview. the context is:

Inventory Management
If you received a high priority demand for an item and there was none in staock describe waht ation or the alternative forms of action you might take?

Explain the difference between a principal item and an expendable item.

I really have no clear clue, so any sort of explaination is highly appreciated!

Sounds like the principle item is the important high priority item.
The expendable item is something that can be sacrificed if need to.
btw. Should this be in the 工作学习 area?
