It's the lastest craze, ever since twilight and Harry Potter, but in my opinion it'll never be as good as the book. Even though the movie is famous, only the book can really show the audience what it's about. The movie is just kind of assuming you know everything about the plot already. It was good, but it's not famous for that. Avatar or Hugo was famous because the movie was awesome, with it's camerawork and special lightings and effects. The HUnger Games movie was only good in people's eyes, because the book was famous. THe plot was famous, the author was famous, the movie was just an addition.
The movie overall was great and intriguging, but some parts were a bit weird, or rushed. Like how in the book, Madge (the mayor's daughter) gives Katniss the mockingjay pin, whereas in the movie, Katniss buys the pin and gives it to Prim, who then gives it back for good luck. I know that lots of people where kind of disappointed in this, as it didn't really have a big meaning anymore. THe special effects in the movie were great, because Katniss and Peeta really were and fire, and when they held their hands up, it gave you a feeling of sastifaction. In her interview with Caeser Flickerman, her red dress also seemed to catch on fire.
The movie was gory, but not horror film gory, just blood and cracking of bones. One of the creepist parts was when Katniss set the tracker - jackers onto GLimmer. Glimmer couldn't escape, and got the deadly stings. It scene shows her face, arms and legs, covered with black and blue bites, swelled up and pale. Another would be when Thresh cracks Clove's head on the Cornucopia, where a real crack was head, as she dropped to the ground.
The cornucopia kind of diappointed me, as it wasn't really a majestic golden horn, it was more like pieces of scrap metal built together into a bad spiral object. It didn't look very convincing.
Overall, the movie was great, and all the characters were believable especially Rue in the film. I really enjoyed watching it for 2 hours, and I really hope all of you get the chance to see it. |
