I would like to share with you guys, some old sayings, but mostly invented sayings.
A horse is judged by its worst leg.
You don't judge a horse by its best leg. You judge the horse by its worst leg. The ability of the horse to run a race depends on whether the worst leg is good. There's no point standing around admiring the best leg if the worst leg is crippled. That horse is not going to win the race.
Unhappiness is a symptom of a healthy brain.
A lot of people worry about being unhappy or depressed. They should not worry. Happiness is a symptom of the detachment of the brain from reality.
Anyone who is aware of what is going on in the world should be very unhappy. The more aware you are, the more unhappy you become. When I see a happy person, I see a person who is oblivious to the world. So the people who are unhappy should not think that there is something wrong with them.
Unhappiness is a symptom of a fully functioning brain. You should be happy that you are unhappy. It is the role of the unhappy people to keep a watchful eye on the world for the benefit of the happy people who don't understand what's happening. The unhappy people are like the meerkats who stand up and keep watch so that the rest of the tribe can forage in peace.
Once in a Blue Moon
Once in a Blue Moon ... is a common way of saying not very often, but what exactly is a Blue Moon?
According to the popular definition, it is the second Full Moon to occur in a single calendar month.
The average interval between Full Moons is about 29.5 days, whilst the length of an average month is roughly 30.5 days. This makes it very unlikely that any given month will contain two Full Moons, though it does sometimes happen.
On average, there will be 41 months that have two Full Moons in every century, so you could say that once in a Blue Moon actually means once every two-and-a-half years.
Standards are good, but good standards are better.
Generally any standard is better than a good non-standard, but a good standard is best of all.
Cleverness is good. Wisdom is better.
The problem with wisdom, though, is that no one knows who is the wisest until after the events in question. So who is to know who is the wise one at a time of decision-making? Cleverness, on the other hand, is usually immediately apparent. So cleverness is often a good second best if you want to make a favourable impression.
