Q.澳洲大学奖学金有那些种类？

　　A.澳洲大学的奖学金主要针对读research的学生，即master by research 和 PhD.对于undergraduate有少量的奖学金，但主要是授予本地学生，overseas基本没希望。Research scholarship主要包括澳洲政府commonwealth government设立的APA(Australian Postgraduate Awards)和IPRS(International Postgraduate Research Scholarship). 着可以说是澳洲奖学金的Big Two.钱都是政府出的。其中，APA是授予澳洲和新西兰citizen以及澳洲PR的；IPRS是专为overseas设立。

　　 IPRS的名额很少，每年全澳州共有300多个名额，分到38个大学，可想而知，竞争多么激烈。顶级大学名额多些，如uni.syd., uni.melb.,uni.queensland,uni.nsw.等一般都在20-30个名额/年。差点的大学可能每年就两三个。APA的名额就多得多，一般至少是IPRS的5倍多。有一点要注意，IPRS cover学费，健康保险和学生会费，不包括生活费，也就是说光光拿到IPRS还是在澳洲呆不下去的，但是一般大学自己都出资设有IPA (International Postgraduate Awards),IPA cover 生活费(AUD18,000/yr左右)自动授予IPRS holder，无需也不能单独申请。APA由于是给citizen和PR的，它自然不包括学费和健康保险(因为他们是免学费的，也有免费的 medicare)，APA cover生活费，也是AUD18,000左右。但是，APA不包括compulsory subscription fees(学生会费等)，这点是IPRS比APA好的地方。另外，IPRS entile Transport Concession.也就是公共交通半价优惠，这是一般非奖学金学生没有的。所以，拿到IPRS奖学金读书其间其实和PR没有太大区别。

　　除了这两种主要的奖学金，有的大学还有另外一种叫APAI(Australian Postgraduate Awards Industry)的。它是企业出钱资助的奖学金，也只授予citizen和PR，而且钱一般比APA多，24-28K/yr. 但拿这个奖学金是要为企业干活的(也就是做project)。相比较而言，APA/IPRS-IPA相当于是白拿的，你只需写写paper满足你导师设置的毕业要求就OK。

　　除此之外，很多大学都设置有由大学或院系出资的uni.dept.奖学金，但这些奖学金一般钱相对少些，而且主要面向citizen/PR.每个学校叫法不一样，如UPA,UIPA… 。有的学校对优秀overseas学生有学费减免的政策(tuition waiver)。这些每个学校都有自己的一套，但名额都不多。

　　总之，对于international student来说，一般只有IPRS一个选择。对于PR,APA当然是NO.1 choice,但UPA/APAI等也相当不错。

　　Q.申请IPRS需要那些条件？

　　A.首先是international student.读master by research或PhD.并拿到offer.(一般申请奖学金时若没有admission，学校会自动先把你的材料给系里评估offer，所以无需分别申请，但有的学校比较变态，一定要你独立申请，另外你2年内没有接受过commonwealth government的其他奖学金资助。

　　以上都是硬性条件，容易满足。

　　弹性条件就难说了，一般学校只告诉你，你要有好的本科成绩，最好有国际论文等。就我的经验看来，主要标准是两条：1)本科成绩 2)工作经验。这里拿到IPRS的中国学生绝大多数是工作过至少3年的。工作经验一条对于老外评价你的research潜力来说是非常有说服力的(荒谬??)。如果你没有工作经验，你的本科甚至研究生的成绩必须非常非常好，一般top3(系)。所以，一般你要是本科/研究生刚刚毕业，建议你工作几年后再申请吧，毕竟top3的人本可以去米国了。当然你可以尝试看看，反正申请一般是免费的，也不会留下什么不良纪录。也许luck这回降临于你。

　　有一点要说明，澳洲大学都普遍实行“地方保护主义”，非澳洲学历的成绩要打九折后再跟澳洲学历成绩比较。比如说有两个学生，一个是西悉尼大学本科毕业overall成绩82分，另一个是中国清华(甚至美国哈佛也不例外)本科overall成绩90分；那么，学校做评价之前先把后者成绩乘以 0.9,即90*0.9=81,那么后者的竞争力就排在前者之后了。(荒谬2？这是现实)。但是对于申请IPRS的来说，这点还稍微好点，毕竟，在澳洲拿到本科学位的人绝大部分都拿到PR了，所以不会跟你竞争。但对于新移民想申请APA的人来说，就麻烦了。所以可以看到一个现象，APA holder大多数是在澳洲读过undergraduate的。

　　对于论文？不必太在意，老外心里清楚，要炮制两篇国际论文不是什么太难的是，除非你有顶级刊物上的论文，否则意义不太大。而且一般undergraduate/master也发表不了什么“著作”，所以这点老外的期望不高。

1。Monash University International Scholarships for xcellence
Eligibility: International applicants to, and currently enrolled international students at a Monash Australia campus.
Selection criteria: Postgraduate
Value: $6000 for full scholarship: $3000 or $1500 for partial scholarships per annum
Duration: Payable for the normal period of time specified by the university for full-time completion of the degree, or until the degree is completed, whichever is soonest, up to a maximum of 5 years.
Number per year: Scholarships for postgraduate coursework students are limited and the number of scholarships offered in each faculty is dependant upon available funding. In 2004 approximately 30 scholarships were awarded. In 2005 scholarships may be offered for study undertaken in programs administered by the following faculties:

International Postgraduate Coursework Awards (IPCA)
Number to be awarded and benefits
Each year the University awards around 17 IPCAs to high achieving international students who have been offered an unconditional course offer in one of the postgraduate coursework programs listed below.

IPCAs cover between 25% to 100% of tuition fees for the duration of the course.

说得好像不完全全面哈，目前知道的2个学校（UNSW，Newcastle）好像不是完全只看“1)本科成绩 2)工作经验”；而是这样评分：本科成绩+2到5分;真实可信的推荐信+1或+2;论文：会议+1；期刊+2；研究经历（不仅仅是工作经历）+1到5分不等；最后大家一起排名竞争
