Time magazine chose the book as one of the 100 best English-language novels (1923 to 2005);[4] it also places at number 31 on the Modern Library List of Best 20th-Century Novels. It won a Retrospective Hugo Award in 1996 and is also included in the Great Books of the Western World.

The novel addresses not only the corruption of the revolution by its leaders but also how wickedness, indifference, ignorance, greed and myopia destroy any possibility of a Utopia. While this novel portrays corrupt leadership as the flaw in revolution (and not the act of revolution itself), it also shows how potential ignorance and indifference to problems within a revolution could allow horrors to happen if smooth transition to a people's government is not satisfied.

大概是米蘭昆德拉Milan Kundera 笑忘書
生命中不能承受之輕之後

市面上的畅销书太多，我也有些迷茫，你要看哪个类型的？我们可以讨论一下。

倒是想起一本好书，推荐一本音乐评论的好书，
The Rest is Noise: Listening to the Twentieth Century (Paperback)

我是這幾年才開始有序的讀英文小說
而且讀英文速度很慢
選的還都是我曾用中文讀過的
覺得非讀不可的一些書

為什麼不愛讀英文小說
當然最大的原因就是英文程度不夠

我從小愛讀書
但是怎麼練讀英文書就是沒辦法感動
連對中議本的感動換成英文就不感動
這是一種文字障
我知道就是因為有隔

大學時很喜歡愛爾蘭詩人葉慈
為了他苦讀了一些相關知識
但是沒有用
讀英詩就是沒有感覺
那沒辦法踩鼓點的難處很讓人氣苦
還好葉慈的詩 我可從意象裡去感受
至於其它大詩人 就沒救了
再偉大的詩也只能從情節去猜想
至於旋律與音節呢 --------偷偷略過

讀英文每個字就是字
每個音就是音
它不像中文
我讀到風就衍生出風
我讀到眼淚就感到欲眩
上下文一通透 該雲淡風清的不會狂風大作
該雨露均霑的不會大旱望霓
更不要說讀詩了
本來以為出了國接觸久了會改善
但是讀了讀
越讀越徬徨
久讀英文書 我的思緒變慢了
我的思考深度變淺了
甚至連日常生活的話題都變少了
更不要說以往還常涉獵的文史哲

這種隔
誰能有以教我

要不我推荐我第一本完整看完的英文小说给你？
《The Book Thief> 讲一个很感人的故事，作者原来写了很多儿童读物，所以并没有用big words在小说，但是写得非常好的一本小说，我特别喜欢他的描述。从那以后我感受到了英文这种语言之美，就一发不可收拾了。

為什麼不愛讀英文小說

我從小愛讀書

如果链接大脑左半球和右半球中间的那个Bridge运作正常那你就会用两边大脑思考就不会过于想问题从一个角度出发然后中英文也会都可以任意阅读了。（我的一点猜测和建议）

米蘭昆德拉 的书应该不属于正宗的英文作品吧，因为他大多不是用英文写的，英文版是被别人翻过来的，不过很有看头，去年刚看完他的《Life is elsewhere》。

推荐一下我最近刚看完的Kim Edwards的《The Memory Keeper's Daughter》，感觉语言很优美。这是Kim的第一部长篇小说，是2006年的畅销书，还得了一个什么奖。Kim得过很多文学奖，但以前写的都是short stories，她目前在the University of Kentucky教写作。

这个帖子真好，希望大家多多推荐正在看的英文好书。

看了電影到是不錯，書沒讀過
