The inspiration I had.
I ran into this angel last year, he had this pair of big white wings pointing towards to me, he was facing the wall and taking a piss in this little dark toilet
So you now picture this photo. The strong absurdity in it! An angel taking a piss. have you subconsciously thought about this? what it going be look like if that angel's life being realized in a real life display? What if he is a man? What if he is Japanese? Does he enjoy a good night meal as we all do? If you are an angel, how does it feel like when you get to peek into everybody daily life? How do you socialize, Are you surprised if there actually are some gifted people can spot you? In a heavily packed train, would you prefer stay in the crowd? Or the ceiling?
That’s when imagination opens doors for creativity. I missed out this photo-op last year, but to create a series of constructed image of an angel’s life is something I want to explore in this folio.
To implement possible scenarios of an angel's life. To bring out what might've been visualized consciously or subconsciously in viewer's head. The viewer should be able to ask "Is it what I would've imagined?", "How close is it to what I imagined?"
So this brings to the question: how to deliver? Why an image does it for you? To me a good image should just pop out straight away, if you don't get it within a few seconds, chances are better you delete and move on. So this popping out x factor of the image I call dynamics.
For me the photo making process is about finding and creating imagery dynamics. We all know the simplest way of creating dynamics is putting your subject in the golden means point. if you want a sense of stillness, then you centre position your subject.
I am more interested in the relationship of the subjects in the way of creating dynamics, the interaction between the subjects make your photo interesting and what makes it more appealing to me is the way they interact each other and what’s going on between them tell story.
And I intend to tell a story of an angel’s life.
The folio should explore and reflect many aspects of my thoughts into the dynamic subject relationship.
* Sense of balance, what’s missing?
* Find what links subjects. And framing.
* How does it work in an environment? How do you place your subject in an interesting environment?
* How your models pose for the photo? Importance of the shape of your subject.
* The dynamics even stronger if it involves contrast and interaction of colours.
