Nowadays, movie becomes a popular and influential mass media in the world. It is a product of culture. It reflects and affects people’s life. With the development of society and the international culture exchange, more and more English movies are introduced into China. It holds a very important position in Chinese people’s recreational life. So translating foreign audiovisual arts become a significant activity in promoting cultural exchanges. With a large number English movies introduced into the Chinese market, movie translation has been attached increasing attention. However, movie translation is far from being explored, in particular movie title translation.
The title is an important part of a movie; it delivers the main information about the movie to the audience. It can grip the attention of the audience at their first sight. Movie title has informative, expressive and vocative functions. It short in form but rich in meaning. In the past, translators paid their attention to the text, but I want to from another aspect to talk about movie title translation. For the aim of movie is to amuse the audience, this thesis discusses the movie title translation from the audience perspective. Only the audience is satisfied with the translation, it can be said success. |
