一年半过去了，Flash还没有fix这个bug

有这样一个Flash的bug，可以让所有的主流浏览器crash掉。这个bug已经被发现长达16个月，仍然没有fix

不过总算是希望在前头，随着html5/ogg逐步走入现实，我们将来的浏览器也许不再需要任何的plug-in，就能播放各种audio/video了

说实在，现在IE由于flash崩溃的问题比以前好多了，不过flash还是太耗资源

adobe 没竞争对手， 有没有bug 大家还是要用， 所以就不管了。

btw 想从启或关闭firefox 又多了一个方法

i believe IE wont go html5

The thing is that there is no viable alternative right now. HTML5 is still work-in-progress. So this is a highly risky decision by Jobs I have to say.

虽然不能算直接竞争对手，但silverlight或多或少还算是flash的竞争对手

apple之所以不去支持flash也估计是对flash的低效能有些不满

silverlight比较新而已，目前才到4 beta, flash都10了，这方面没有可比性

关键是其他的OS，*nix & Mac，永远也不会用上SilverLight

yes yes I know there are porting projects going on right now to move Silverlight to Linux....but dude, I highly doubt it's gonna be useful, especially now we do have a bit of hope in HTML5.

我现在默认是关闭flash的，只有oursteps.com.au和google.com可以运行flash

One of the reasons why Apple didn't put the 'things that we dream about' for the iPad (GPS, Camera, etc) is because it loves dearly -- its other products so much (iPhone, iPodtouch, iPod) -- Imagine, if Apple put all the 'good stuff' inside the iPad? For sure, it'll cannibalize the sales on their other iDevices, perhaps even on MAC PC/Notebook.

Remember? When iPod touch was release, and people were disappointed 'coz it has no camera and a GPS. Reason? If Apple put those things, the only difference between it, and the iPhone is the 'Call/SMS capability' . Obviously, it'll hurt the sales of the iPhone.

Seriously, Apple is just repeating the history.

That would make perfect sense if Apple is the only manufacturer of phones & tablets in the world.

its not os but browser matters, if unix using firefox, then running Bing Maps US will require silverlight...

别的不说，就说新足迹吧，我如果用Remote login,开了足迹网，最怕就是看到那个顶端的flash，基本上浏览器都要停滞个十几秒，灰常的有风险

Silverlight is not a pure browser add-on, it needs to be installed into the OS, that's why OS matters here.

If using bing maps requires someone to install SilverLight, guess what happens.....

if M$ Bing maps requires silverlight to view, why wouldn't you just use google maps instead

google maps is way better than bing maps international, but not the US one, the silverlight one is really cool, better user experiece i reckon!

agreed, and to be honest I'm not exactly a fan of the "we make an open standard, then everyone will adopt it, then it becomes THE standard, and whoever dare not to use it is evil" approach. Exceptional intelligence is as much a gift as a curse, it makes people arrogant and forget that dumb users decide the winner of competitions, not the other way around.

it costs but it is still reasonable, especially according to ur income, those US companies always create new stuff bring excitements which worries me a lot, chinese companies can do nothing but copying...
