about this, i got different view with david
if you are car dealer, when you buy car from private sales, you can claim gst, no matter wether the seller is compnay or person who register for gst or not, you can only claim gst when you acctually sell it, not when you buy it
if you are company, just buy car from private party who dont register for gst, then you cann't claim gst credit. and there is consequence for claim gst when you buy it, when you sell it, you have to report gst collected, and any gain from selling is income for company
back to lz's second question, car dealer entitle to charge gst from purchaser, as long as the car dealer register for gst, no matter where and how the car dealer get the car
