AMES Australia is a statutory authority which specialises in the delivery of education, training, employment, settlement and community services to a culturally and linguistically diverse (CALD) client base.
We are currently seeking AMEP Counsellors at multiple locations to provide support and guidance to new AMEP clients so they can gain the most from their experiences at AMES Australia, and also be guided in the most appropriate direction for their learning needs.
Flagstaff:
We have one fulltime vacancy at our Flagstaff location. The ability to speak the Arabic language fluently (in addition to English) is a mandatory requirement for this position. This vacancy is on a fixed term basis until 30 June 2017.
Box Hill:
We have two fulltime vacancies at our Box Hill location. The ability to speak the Mandarin language fluently (in addition to English) is a mandatory requirement for these positions. One of these positions is on a maternity leave replacement basis to 30 June 2017, and the other is on a fixed term basis to 30 June 2017.
Oakleigh:
We have one part-time vacancy (0.4 FTE) at our Oakleigh location. The ability to speak the Mandarin language fluently (in addition to English) is a mandatory requirement for this position. This vacancy is on a fixed term basis until 30 June 2017.
As an AMEP Counsellor some of your duties will include:
Provide information to clients about learning options within the AMEP
Conduct entry interviews, ongoing reviews and exit interviews
Provide settlement support and make referrals to external agencies as required
Undertake pathway counselling
Undertake marketing activities to promote the AMEP
We are looking for applications from candidates who can demonstrate the following:
Qualification in Educational, Vocational, Social Work, Counselling or related fields (mandatory requirement)
Experience working with people from culturally and linguistically diverse backgrounds (mandatory requirement)
Fluent Arabic language skills (Flagstaff vacancy)
Fluent Mandarin language skills (Box Hill and Oakleigh vacancies)
Capacity to plan and deliver educational/vocational counselling programs
Demonstrated experience with educational, government, business and ethnic community networks
Well-developed interpersonal skills with a particular emphasis on dealing with clients from culturally diverse backgrounds
Well-developed understanding of AMEP provision and options for clients
Previous experience in an organisation that provides education services
The annual salary of $58,484 + 9.5% super will be prorated for these positions.
