Hello fellow owners of the 2012 Camry Hybrid.
Just had my H model tinted by DMS in Perth last week as I wanted to have the quality of 3M film and they are the state distributors.
Here is how my story goes. .
Planned and booked over a week ahead and received confirmation of my appointment. On the day I drove in I was told that the installer was sick and that I needed to come back later in the week so I had little choice but to book it in a couple of days later. The initial feeling was disappointment as I had been looking forward to having the upgrade installed and the obvious other benefits being the middle of summer.
Put it to the back of my mind and two days later I returned..
Was told that it would take around 4 hours and thankfully I was dropped at the local train station so I could go kill some time with my son in the city while the work was being done. Over 4 hours passed and I hadn’t received a call, so I called them. Was informed that it would be finished in another half hour so I decided to return as it would take about that long to get back. Nicely enough I was collected from the train station and was brought back to the store.
Car looked awesome and boy was I initially pleased so I didn’t bother to complain about the almost 2 hour delay or the fact I was sent away without being notified a couple days earlier. I was thinking it’s all done so my patience had been rewarded.
It wasn’t until later that night when I went to lock the car I noticed I didn’t get the indicator light flash or the bleep so I spent some time with the manual to figure it out the problem. One out of ten attempts it would work but frustratingly on a brand new car that simply isn’t good enough. I figured out that the rear passenger side door (where my son sits) was affected and wouldn’t lock properly.. It didn’t occur to me that it may have been the installer and sadly blamed it on my boy thinking he had been playing around with the lock when I had tried to use the switch on the drivers door.
I had a few more days till the initial inspection at the dealership so I thought I would wait till then to get it fixed under warranty. In the meantime I had noticed on the drivers window a small but noticeable crease in the tint that you can actually feel the ridge of with your finger. But as I was informed by DMS to wait 28 days for the adhesive to fully bond before worrying about imperfections I tried to ignore it along with small bubbles found on the rear windows.
It wasn’t until I had the 1000km inspection that I was told that the reason the door wasn’t locking was that the cable had not been put back correctly. That angered me so I called from the service centre to make a complaint and calmly mentioned the whole story. I told them I was still prepared to wait the 28 days before I bring it back (as I flew out the next day) but since then I have thought about how much time and grief this has now caused me, not to mention the hours I will possibly spend travelling and waiting for the window to be redone.
Sorry for the longwinded story but I just wanted to get this off my chest before I put in the formal complaint or speak directly with the owner. I’m also interested to know what others out there in my position would demand to compensate them for the lack of professionalism, inconvenience and time wastage? |
