政治很肮脏, 做政客需要有极厚的脸皮,如果不是对政治有极大的热情, 和想要改变社会的强烈愿望, 实在不觉得是份好工作. 有从政能力的人大概也有能力去private sector 做高层了, 如果是为钱的话不一定算得来.

THE former Greens MLC Ian Cohen said the party's support for a boycott of Israel may have contributed to disappointing results in Balmain and Marrickville.

Both races remain close, but the seats are predicted to remain in Labor's hands.

The three-way race in Balmain between Verity Firth, the sitting Labor MP, the Coalition candidate James Falk and Jamie Parker of the Greens was on a knife-edge yesterday and will be determined by a count of 4000 postal votes this week.

Fiona Byrne of the Greens has not yet conceded in Marrickville but the former Labor deputy premier Carmel Tebbutt, who mounted a huge effort late in the campaign, looks set to retain the seat. Cr Byrne, who supported a boycott of Israel as mayor of Marrickville, made a series of contradictory statements over whether she would bring the boycott to Parliament if elected.

The Greens received their highest vote in a NSW state election, polling 10.3 per cent in the lower house and 11.14 per cent in the upper house, but are likely to be locked out of decision-making in the upper house by the Coalition, Christian Democrats and the Shooters and Fishers.

MLC David Shoebridge, who was re-elected, said the results were a victory. ''We have seen a Coalition landslide here in NSW, all other players literally decimated,'' he said. ''Against that, the most progressive party in NSW politics has not only held on to our vote but grown our vote to a historic high.''

But Mr Cohen, who is retiring, took a different view, calling the inability to secure either of the lower house seats a ''huge disappointment''. He said the Israel boycott had likely contributed. ''Electorally it could have made the difference in both those seats,'' he said, though he believed the party was right to take a principled stance.

The Greens' federal leader, Bob Brown, said the boycott would certainly be looked at in the debrief. ''I'm picking up from the electorate that it was a matter of concern,'' he said.

Ms Tebbutt, who ran a campaign focused on her own record and not that of the party, suffered a 5.2 per cent swing against her but still won the majority of primary votes.

The Liberals' success with primary votes in Balmain was one of the surprises of election night. Mr Falk outpolled both Ms Firth and Cr Parker on primary votes, though the split was almost even.

''Ultimately it was about a hunger for good government and a belief the Greens were not an alternative,'' Mr Falk said.

The Greens are likely to have five members in the upper house once counting is finished. Mr Shoebridge and the mayor of Byron Bay, Jan Barham, were elected comfortably. Jeremy Buckingham from Orange is likely to win a seat.

Senator Brown said it was a return to the John Howard situation in Federal Parliament ''where both houses were controlled by the conservatives''.

能力当然是有的, 尤其是嘴上功夫, 根本就不是容易的本事, 这里大骂他们的人要真做政客多半是给人家提鞋也不配的. :)

Carmel的老公Anthony Albanese 当时在Kevin Rudd 下台前, 是难得的支持他到最后一步的人, 众叛亲离时候的患难的情谊, 是多么的难得, 想必Kevin 是铭记在心的, 所以这次Anthony Albanese的太太有难, 也难怪他如此上心了.

我很赞同，尤其的后面半句
难得JUJU说说这样的话，很好呀。

我平日不太看政治新闻，就大选的时候看看，平时认识这些人物都是在英翻中的过程里熟悉的，然后看看电视新闻和网上的报道。。。
就有了上面的这些想法。。。这些在论坛里某些人嘴里一塌糊涂的政客们，其实都是很有才能的人。。。光是这番热情和对其的真正热爱就是非常人所能啊。。。

因为票数接近，没有完全点完，因此有些席位仍然是不明。。。

昨天工党的Carmel Tebbutt正式宣布自己在Marrickville的胜利（13,543 primary votes and a two-party preferred outcome of 52.3 per cent），这也可以称得上是大逆转，这位前工党政府的副州长选前的民调显示落后于绿党的候选人Fiona Byrne。。。

Carmel Tebbutt在她的声明里说：“I am humbled and honoured that the people of Marrickville have again placed their trust in me to represent them in the NSW Parliament”

她还说：“Marrickville选区在目前的政治现实中仍然保留了工党。我深深内心感谢Marrickville人民的支持。”

NSW州选举委员会的发言人说官方的结果要到下周一才会宣布。

ABC的网站上Balmain目前为止是点了78.7%的票。
BALMAIN是NSW这次大选中争夺最激烈的选区，真正的三国演义。

本地的社区报报道说：
这几天对于三位候选人来说都是非常难熬，因为他们的得票率非常的接近，都有机会胜选。
估计工党候选人（前任政府的教育部长）Verity Firth在拨票后的得票率为50.8%，领先于自由党的候选人James Falk。
现在胜负就看4000张邮寄投票的得票结果才能决定。
Verity说：“邮寄投票可能给任何一个候选人，我希望能够当选但是不是很自信。”
自由党的Mr Falk的直接得票为13007，Ms Firth排第二12206张，而绿党的Jamie Parker的数字为12067，三个人非常的接近。
Mr Falk说：“我们直接投票率的领先在内西区是一个相当了不起的结果，我们现在实际上仍然有机会胜选，这的确很令人鼓舞。”
绿党的Mr Parker说：“我们老说很接近很接近，但是这次的结果真的是非常非常的接近。我现在时刻排最后，但是我得要耐心些。”

ABC重量级选举分析员Antony Green预测最终Ms Firth会获胜保住这个席位。
工党在这次大选中整个州有20%的swing，而Verity Firth在Balmain这个选区只有3%的swing，说明工党的基本面在这个区很好。
Ms. Firth对这个结果（最小的Swing Ratio）感到自豪。

争夺最激烈的选区Balmain的席位最终可能被绿党夺得。。。
对于绿党来说这是个历史性的突破，Verity Firth非常可惜。。。
当然最终的结果要到明天才能知道，各位候选人也有可能会要求重新点票。。。

Greens closer to seizing NSW seat from Labor

GREENS candidate Jamie Parker has firmed in counting in the Sydney electorate of Balmain that could give his party its first seat in NSW's lower house.
However the result may not be known until tomorrow and could be subject to a recount.
Held by former education minister Verity Firth, Balmain is going right down to the wire following last weekend's massive eelction win for the Coalition.
While Liberal Party candidate James Falk is ahead on the primary vote, preference flows mean the race to win the seat is between Ms Firth and Mr Parker.
Both hope to snatch second place behind Mr Falk, then rely on preferences to push them into first place.
With 90 per cent of the vote counted, Mr Parker leads Ms Firth by a margin of just 223 votes.
NSW Electoral Commission spokesman Richard Carroll said a result may not be known until early tomorrow.
However, he expected the candidates may request a recount given the closeness of the vote.
Candidates have 24 hours to ask for a recount, which would be held on Monday, he said.
ABC election analyst Antony Green has already given the seat to the Greens, saying he can't see Labor "closing a 200 gap this late in the count".
He also doubted there would be a recount in Balmain, saying they were "extremely rare" in Australia.
"Recounts are something that happens in Britain because they only count the votes once over there," Mr Green said.
"But here, most votes have been counted two or three times before the distribution of preferences."

Advertisement NSW Greens candidate Jamie Parker has claimed victory in Sydney's inner-west seat of Balmain, saying his positive campaign resonated with voters.

"Our win is a very strong one that reflects the positivity of our campaign," he told Sky News.

He said it was possible other candidates for the seat could call for a recount.

"I think obviously it was about dissatisfaction with Labor," Mr Parker continued.

Mr Parker is the current mayor of Leichhardt, also in Sydney's inner west.

"But we've put forward a really positive agenda.

"I've been on the council for almost 11 years and mayor for two years.

"We ran a really positive proactive campaign and I think that resonated with the voters."

"People are hungry to see change, they know that the two-party system has not served them well and now they have a real alternative to support the Greens," Mr Parker said.

He told Sky News it was important for him to now get on with the job of representing the people of Balmain.
