I can't help myself to say something about this controversal topic.
My PERSONAL 2 cents is being educated in Australia, conditions are.... the more disputable fact is the conditions, we can talk about days, so it is out of my topic here.
Why here?
Can we ask ourselves why we bother look at education process? why don't we look at the results instead?
May we ask:
1. who are leading all the major subjects, especially natural science and engineering? -- those who are educated in western education systems. Please do not use one or two or hundreds examples, we Chinese are being educated to be good at statistics, hehe...
2. are we really the elites in our fields, even in technical areas, in China or overseas? -- you can argue, but I personally don't think so. The most elites I have seen or heard or just PRODUCT specialist. Which top product are Chinese product? You are good at C or Java, a killer, a Da Na in your company, even a fortune 100 group, who invent it and have been improving it? Your are a Oracle specialist, when you tried millions of ways to find out it is a bug, which you claim proudly to your client that it is beyond your responsibility, and you first line support in Australia, India or China who can't solve it, who the problem will be escalated to? After all, who owns the product. You are an accounting guru in big4 or financial controller in a commericial company, who make accounting a technical system and can be technically measured and upgraded? still, we are still just users of a product. We can so far only be proud that we are expert users of a product.
The results are obvious, at least so far.
Bricks are welcome, but be careful, I have conditions listed which can protect myself well. hehe...
