Dear Sir/Madam:
I would like to request you review and consider waiving the penalty imposed on the Parking Infringement Notice (No. 123456789 – Parking After Ticket Expired) for the following circumstances:
1. After the lunch with my sister at Kogarah on Saturday 22nd August 2009, I drove my husband and my sister to Hurstville to make a booking of flight for our honeymoon via Travel Agent Company, we parked our car at Hurstville Treacy Street car park and purchased our 1st ticket (Original attached) and displayed at dashboard at 13:12pm.
2. It was going to be a relative short appointment, since we have already organized our honeymoon tours to COUNTRY A; it was a matter of getting airplane tickets to COUNTRY A during the days we planned. So after 20 minutes or so we have booked our flights and paid $100 deposit for the tickets.
3. We then decided to do some shopping in Hurstville Westfield, instead of moving our car into the congested shopping centre, to save our hassle we decided to continue to park our car at Hurstville Council’s Carpark at Treacy Street. At this point of time, we kindly asked my sister to go the Treacy Street car park and purchase a ticket to renewal our parking since we did not have any spare changes left. She was happily complied and later met up at Westfield with my husband and I as we proceeded to withdraw some cash from ATM and do some shopping.
4. A 2nd ticket was purchased (Original attached) on Saturday 22nd August 2009 at 13:38pm since we estimated that it would take us a couple of hours to do the shopping. My sister put $2 into the ticket machine to purchase the ticket and tried to put on top of the old ticket at the dashboard.
5. Apparently as she tried to shut the car door with a slam, for some strange reason (maybe it was the wind) the 2nd ticket was accidently fallen off the dashboard onto the passenger seat without her realisation. I guess that’s why the parking inspector did not see the 2nd ticket as attached and booked us.
6. We were quite upset when we saw the parking fine and I had a big argument with my sister. Now come to think of it, she was doing us a favour, but mishap could happen. I don’t want this small incident to spoil our honeymoon or my relationship with my sister. I have since took her for a coffee and apologized to her.
7. As a law-abiding citizen, I am usually very careful both with the driving and the parking; I have an impeccable driving record for many years with full 12 demerit points, no traffic offenses or parking infringements.
8. I sincerely seek your leniency and understanding on this matter and I really appreciate your time on reviewing my request.
Should you have any queries pertaining to the matter above, please do not hesitate to contact me on 0400999888. I will be away for my honeymoon from 14th September 2009 to 27th September 2009 inclusive. You can reach me prior to the 14th or after 28th of September 2009.
Yours sincerely
