Arsenal's Theo Walcott and Alex Oxlade-Chamberlain are expected to miss the Gunners' next three games with injury.
Both players went off in Tuesday's 3-0 League Cup loss to Sheffield Wednesday - Walcott with a calf problem and Oxlade-Chamberlain a hamstring injury.
Manager Arsene Wenger later admitted using "too many experienced players".
They are set to miss the next two Premier League ties against Swansea City and Tottenham Hotspur and a Champions League trip to Bayern Munich.
There is then an international break, when England play friendlies in Spain on 13 November and at home to France four days later.
Early indications are that the injury to Walcott - who replaced Oxlade-Chamberlain after just five minutes on Tuesday - is slightly worse than his team-mate's.
Wenger made nine changes for the 3-0 defeat but still included Olivier Giroud, Per Mertesacker, Mathieu Flamini, Petr Cech, Mathieu Debuchy, Kieran Gibbs and Calum Chambers.
The Gunners boss said after the game the injuries to the two forwards were a "big blow".
"We are short now with the injuries," added the 66-year-old Frenchman, who has six other first-team players out. |
