这个老外是这么和coles insurance搞的,你也可以一样。
Coles seems pretty inconsistent. When they are bad they are bloody terrible!
My daughter was in a prang, not her fault, no alcohol involved either party. So she started claims process with her insurer, Coles. This car was an old Excel insured comprehensive for about $3.500.
She's 25, hadn't dealt with insurance before and Coles took full advantage of that. Kept asking her for more details even though all claims forms were completed. She kept getting fobbed off on phone. 6 months down the track, still no payout. I went to see my solicitor, he sent them demand letter on her behalf. Still no response.
My solicitor informed me of a demurrage clause, which is apparently in the MTA law which also covers auto insurance. Demurrage is idle time for a vehicle, eg; when a truck driver's waiting at a distribution centre more than an hour to load his truck, big transport co's will charge demurrage.
Her policy stated that she wasn't covered for a rental while car was off road, so she was stuck all that time with no wheels.
Solicitor sent another letter saying he will be claiming demurrage for the whole time daughters car was off road, as any court would find Coles delay in settling unreasonable. Apparently the MTA standard charge (from memory) is $45 a day. So solicitor included a bill for $45/day x 8 months plus solicitors costs, saying there will be further costs if it goes to court.
2 weeks later, my daughter receives cheque from Coles for............$12,510.00.
Suspect someone at Coles insurance lost a job over that one. Would've been so much cheaper to just pay the 3 grand in first place.
Never know your luck with insurance co.'s. But I will never use Coles, unless I'm sure they'll delay pay out for at least a year.... |
