Notification of Council Meeting


Property:        445-447 Forest Road Penshurst

Development Application No: DA2013/0315

Proposed:       Alterations and additions to existing place of public worship (mosque) - first floor addition to existing building including dome structures on roof and construction of 21m high minaret


I refer to your recent submission to Council relating to the above Development Application.   

A report on the above Development Application will be presented to the Council Meeting to be held on Wednesday 7 May 2014.  This meeting will be held in the Marana Auditorium, MacMahon Street, Hurstville.  The meeting is scheduled to start at 7:00pm.  Copies of the report will be available at the meeting on Council's website www.hurstville.nsw.gov.au under "View It/Council meeting agendas and minutes/Current Agendas and Minutes" on the Friday before the meeting.

If you wish to address the Council regarding this matter, you must submit a request in writing.  Each person will be permitted to address the meeting for a maximum of three (3) minutes.  Request in writing to speak at the meeting are to be received no later than close of business the Monday before the meeting and should be addressed to the General Manager, Hurstville City Council, Attention: Katherine Garske, Manager Corporate Governance and Records, PO Box 205, Hurstville BC NSW 1481, or emailed to hccmail@hurstville.nsw.gov.au and marked to the Attention of Katherine Garske, Manager Corporate Governance and Records.

清真寺的邻居今晚有个聚会，讨论有关明天council的会议事宜。明天将有代表发言反对扩建。有兴趣的朋友可以参加，时间8：30，地址：1 Salisbury St.  Penshurst.

明天晚上council会议请有空的反对的朋友一定别忘了参加。今天刚刚会了几个邻居聚会，其中之一讲他的朋友（其它市的议员)说最好的方法是给当地的议员打电话，让他们知道有很多反对。所以希望明天大家如有时间的话试着再打些电话。

现正正在council开会，非常汗颜。大部分出席者都是清真寺的人。华人去哪了？一位朋友讲，从来也没有听说过缺中国人，但是需要时却没有几个人。

但是结果还是不应出人意料。现在已有6位议员反对了。应该不会通过。

原来有三条的，删了一条，没来得及看。昨天到场支持的比反对的多得多。没看到议员是怎么投票的，感觉就是各自陈述一下反对的理由。

完全不对。在二方面的各自发言人发表演讲后的掌声中完全听得出哪方面出席的人员情况。如果你当时在场的话，你就会有体会了。再说这是体现一种精神，决心。 你的这种想法是消极的态度， 不可取。

也許。但是華人很多反孔廟，反關帝廟的。

Minutes of Council meeting

RESOLVED THAT the application be refused on the following grounds:
1.    Pursuant to Section 79C(1)(b) of the Environmental Planning and Assessment Act 1979, the proposed development will result in adverse amenity impacts due to the number of persons attending the site, the lack of on-site and off-street parking to accommodate any increase in patronage, and resulting traffic and parking congestion in neighbouring streets.

2.    Pursuant to Section 79C(1)(e) the proposed development is not considered to be in the public interest given submissions received and concerns raised over this development.
