The new station between Aircraft and Hoppers Crossing will be served by more than 800 train services, with trains every 10 to 12 minutes during peak times and every 20 minutes during the off-peak hours.
The $110 million project came under fire before its opening, with residents saying buses routed to the station would run late due to being stuck in traffic.
Leader caught one of the new bus routes, the 497 from Saltwater Coast to Williams Landing, last Tuesday.
The bus ran on time, as did all the other buses observed travelling to the station on this day.
Point Cook Action Group president Nick Michaelides said the group was lobbying for dedicated bus lanes down Palmers Rd.
Commuters conveyed they were happy with the new train station.

Five new bus routes replaced the 413 and 416 Hoppers Crossing-Laverton buses.
But Point Cook residents have called on the State Government to reinstate the 416 bus line or change the new 493 route to include stops on Sneydes Rd.
Gopi Telukoti said people now had to walk 1km to the nearest bus stop.
More than 100 residents in the Kingsford and Innisfall estates signed a petition and submitted it to Altona state Labor MP Jill Hennessy.
Ms Hennessy said she had written to Transport Minister Terry Mulder, asking for an explanation for the bus changes.
Wyndham Council chief executive Kerry Thompson said while council was disappointed with the removal, it would not be pursuing it with the Government.
Public Transport Victoria would not directly respond to questions about whether the removal of bus routes would be reversed. |
