Some years ago an officer was watching a live demonstration of artillery
fire, he was suitably impressed but he wondered why there were two
soldiers standing about four meters behind each piece doing nothing so
he decided to research it. After a while he found a picture from the
late 1800's, the two solders were holding the horses.
