It's Xiaomi, a huge brand, has an insane market share over there. My current Xiaomi phone is great. I think this phone is amazing and would totally buy it if I was in the market for a top of the line phone.

You know people - rather than actually asking who'd pay $1000 for this phone - how about Googling it up to see what this phone is before making a judgement? It is an almost full-screen phone that takes up 90+% of the entire area and is what Apple Fanbois dream of day in and out for their perfect iPhone. It uses new technologies to get around having the earpiece on the front and is a very nice looking device that will wow anyone if they saw it. This model has been rated by many well established sites (including GSMArena) to be the most innovative phones released this year by far. Something no doubt that Samsung and Apple will eventually catch onto in 2017/2018.

No doubt, it is a great concept phone and considering the price, it does look expensive. However, if it would have been released by Samsung, It would have been 1.5k+
At the same time, I think the price will further drops in next couple of months.
I bought xiaomi mi5s a few months back for $450 and I am loving it. I thought, moving from samsung Galaxy S7 edge to xiaomi mi5s will make me feel bad. but infact i love this phone.
My opinion is if you are planning to purchase a new phone, then definitely buy this phone. If you are currently happy with your current phone, then wait for further price drop.
People who saying $1k on chinese phone is too much, I am sure, if they purchase it, they will definitely fell in love with this.
