National ICT Australia (NICTA) is Australia's ICT Research Centre of Excellence. NICTA brings together world-class researchers and professional staff to enhance their skills and build a culture of entrepreneurship and achievement in use-inspired research. This will build Australia's ICT capacity into the future.

NICTA is seeking a Software or Research Engineer to work on a project in information retrieval and text processing. The successful candidate will work in a team of researchers and other engineers developing new technologies for extraction and visualisation of information from biomedical and clinical documents. Duties include contributing to implementing novel algorithms and evaluating them, and helping build new applications.

Candidates for the Software Engineer position should have a degree in Computer Science, Software Engineering, or a closely related field.
Candidates for Research Engineer should have postgraduate or other experience contributing to Computer Science research; experience in text processing or search technology will be viewed favourably.
