Desexing your companion animal is an essential part of responsible animal care. It is necessary for maintaining their health, minimising antisocial behaviours and is vital for reducing the shocking number of unwanted animals killed each year in pounds.
If you are experiencing financial difficulties, rather than postponing desexing, you can apply for subsidised desexing through one of the organisations listed below. Delaying this will result in injury, disease or pregnancy, and will ultimately cost you more money than simply desexing your pet.
Remember – female cats can become pregnant from 4 months of age, not 6 months as some vets still claim. It is a very common, safe and highly recommended procedure to have your kitten desexed from 8 weeks of age, and all of the organisations listed below offer this service.
CatRescue August / September 2010 Subsidised Desexing Programme
In the lead up to breeding season, CatRescue NSW is offering subsidised desexing until the end of September 2010 (depending on the uptake). This programme is not restricted to pets, we urge anyone who is feeding a stray cat to please contact us immediately to access this discount. The cost for you for the subsidised desexing programme is $40 per cat or kitten (over 8 weeks old), regardless of whether the cat is male or female.
How to receive Subsidised Desexing:
Step 1: Please click here to download our application form, and when you have filled it out email it to desexing@catrescue.com.au. Note: You will find instructions on how to pay, as well as a list of participating vets in the application form.
Step 2: You will receive a Subsidised Desexing Certificate sent to your email address within the next few days. Once you receive this, please print a copy to take to the vet.
Step 3: Call the participating Veterinary Clinic that you have nominated to make your appointment for desexing. Please ensure you follow their pre and post operative instructions.
Step 4: When you arrive at the Veterinary Clinic for your cat’s desexing appointment, present them with the CatRescue Subsidised Desexing Certificate to receive subsidised desexing.
Participating Vets:
Concord Animal Hospital: 45 Victoria Ave, Concord West (ph) 9743 1715
Coreen Avenue Veterinary Clinic: 117 Coreen Ave, Penrith (ph) 4731 3055
Princess Highway Veterinary Clinic: 30 Princes Highway, Kogarah (ph) 9588 2245
Please Note: CatRescue’s subsidised desexing programme is strictly available at these 3 listed vets only. This is not negotiable. All participating vets offer desexing of healthy kittens from 8 weeks of age.
If you have any questions about this programme don’t hesitate to contact us.
