I deferred my teaching course because my current employer does not allow me to work part time any more. I have to make money to pay the morgage. so...

So I am thinking to learn something I am very interested in my spare time might be a good idea. If I did well I might end up with a career in that direction.

It seems the salary is good. But I heard that there are not so many full time jobs available in graphic design field. One of my friends said there are too many graduates, even too many local students. She said most people in this area work on a contract basis or as freelance. So I am worried that maybe it is too hard to get a full time job since not so many full time job available ...

1，光有兴趣不够，最少要有多年美术功底。有助对色彩，版式的理解。再就是要有很活跃的思维。
2，若为好薪金，那也不见得是好选择。因为普遍薪金，MEL：40000～60000，若水平经验丰富，英语水平较高，独立, 接洽，presentation,完成项目。70000～90000＋
相对而言，产品设计普遍高10000＋。

pay得高的，一般是好的广告agency，也有一些大公司自己有一个小的design team，也还行。至于小agency就很看造化了，有的很牛很有钱，有的也就是混混日子。

如果lz有这方面的天赋，值得下些力气，是一条不错的路子。不过这个圈子不大，所以职位也不会很多。特别是现在经济状况不是很好，比以前难点。

graphic design的人不少，但会graphic+multimedia的很少。

Thanks for your reply. May I ask are you working in this industry now or before? I mean graphic design. Sorry, no affence. Just curious because you seem know a lot of info on graphic design.

my brother is a senior GD and has fine arts background, recently lost his job and struggling to get reemployed. he's got a top-notch portfolio. you'd be surprised to know how little they earn as a senior...80k laughing, 90k you dreaming...whereas senior professionals in many other profession earn much more than that.

Although salary is very important, but doing what you really enjoy is pretty lucky too... I guess for me it would be enough if i can earn around 70k...

My current admin job is very boring...

70k at the current market means you need to have at least 10 y of experience with a very outstanding portfolio. Good luck.

i didn't even know that it's going backwards once you have more than 20 years of experience. i guess it's logical though. creativity ages with the body.
