Musk doesn’t write papers, but he changes people’s lifestyles, creates the most practical autonomous driving, and pioneers sky travel.

Yan Ning has a lot of halo, a top student at Tsinghua University, a professor at Princeton, and now he is an academician of the Chinese Academy of Sciences.

To put it bluntly, he is a typical useless bookworm who makes a living by analyzing cell structures and writing articles. Now that his job has been taken away by AI, he can no longer return to China to make a living.

How many original contributions have you really made?

Can it cure cancer? Can it prevent COVID-19? Can autism be cured?

One of this year’s Nobel Prize winners is the developer of the COVID-19 vaccine, which has saved hundreds of millions of lives. Even if you don’t win this award, it is still a monument.

The Chinese Academy of Sciences maintains hundreds of so-called "academicians" all year round. How many of them have won the Nature Nobel Prize? How many people have produced good medicines that benefit mankind like the COVID-19 vaccine? How many people, like Musk, have changed people's lifestyle and well-being?

Stop advocating for Yan Ning. Don’t look at how many articles she has published. Look at her current influence and originality. Otherwise, becoming an academician is just a shortcut to retirement.
