Elevit and Blackmore Gold are multivitamins and minerals, special formulated for pregnancy. Both are good and can (should) take throughout the pregnancy and breast feeding period. Both cost about $1 per day.
Elevit is an older brand, it contains 0.8 mg folic acid. Blackmore Gold is relative new preparation, need to take two capsules per day (total folic acid is 0.5 mg per day).
0.8 mg of folic acid is not high. The dose for women who pregnant with twins and a few medical conditions, is 5mg per day.
Elevit does not have iodeine (Dian3) and fish oil, while Blackmore gold has include these two elements in their "pregnancy Gold" preparation. In Australia, the iodeine is slight low in our water and we do not have iodeine added into our salt, thus iodeine may be beneficial. The food contains the highest iodeine is HaiDai or ZhiChai. Fish oil is popular in the last few years, may benefit the neurological development of the foetus. |
