Qualifications Leading to Registration
To practise cadastral surveying in Victoria, you must be registered as a Licensed Surveyor under the Surveying Act 2004. To become registered, you must:
successfully complete a university degree in surveying or geomatics or an equivalent qualification as approved by the Board
obtain practical training in cadastral surveying following graduation under the supervision of a Licensed Surveyor, and
pass examinations in cadastral surveying set by the Board.
In accordance with s.62(a) of the Surveying Act 2004, the Surveyors Registration Board of Victoria has approved the following courses of study, which provide qualifications for registration as a Licensed Surveyor:
UNIVERSITY OF MELBOURNE
2-year Master of Engineering (Spatial) degree with the Bachelor of Environments (Spatial Systems) or the Bachelor of Science as a pre-requisite
3-year Master of Engineering (Spatial) degree with a degree other than the Bachelor of
Environments (Spatial Systems) or the Bachelor of Science as a pre-requisite
The Master of Engineering (Spatial) degree must include the following elective subjects:
GEOM90041 Cadastral Surveying;
GEOM2076 Land Development; and
ABPL90041 Property Law.
Accreditation of these programs is valid until 31 December 2018.

Bachelor of Applied Science (Surveying) (Honours)
Accreditation of this program is valid until 31 December 2021.
