Title: 2009 Apprentice & Trainee Campaign
Location: Various
Business Unit: Network Services
Close Date: 01/08/2008

--------------------------------------------------------------------------------

Description
CitiPower and Powercor, Victoria’s largest electricity distributor, are proud to announce that applications are now being accepted for our 2009 Apprentice and Trainee Campaign.

We are excited to be recruiting more than 35 new employees into the following range of roles (based within Melbourne and regionally):

Apprentice Powerline Workers
Apprentice Electrical Fitters
Apprentice Meter Technicians
Trainee Electrical Testers
Trainee Technical Officers (Design)
Our Apprenticeships run over a 4-year period, combining formal TAFE study and paid field work to enable you to gain an industry recognised trade qualification.  These types of role would be ideal for someone who is comfortable working outdoors and at heights, in all types of weather.  You must have minimum Year 11 pass in General Maths or currently be completing a TAFE training course to qualify.

Our Design Traineeships run over a 3-year period and also combine TAFE study to build competency in a specified technical area of our business.  These types of roles are ideal for those who enjoy a more office-based environment and who thrive on solving problems and mathematical calculations or who have an interest in design tools such as GIS or AutoCad.  You must have a minimum Year 12 pass in Maths Methods and/or Physics to qualify.

Our Electrical Tester Traineeships run over a 4-year period and are suited to those who like a combination of office and field based work.  You must have a minimum Year 12 pass in Maths Methods and/or Physics to qualify.

What we can offer:

Program Structure - Our programs spans either three of four years and may comprise rotations throughout the business to increase your skills and knowledge

Training and Development - We assign each apprentice and trainee mentor from within the organisation as well as providing regular coaching and feedback to ensure continual development.

Rewards and Benefits - We offer a competitive remuneration package with generous superannuation and leave allowances, work-life balance initiatives, social club membership and performance based reward and recognition.

What you will gain:

Attainment of a qualification or trade whilst earning money at the same time.
A valuable opportunity to develop skills and put theory into practice as part of a team of highly motivated professionals.
The opportunity to work on projects from start to finish as your development progresses.
Exposure to industry leading practices within the state’s leading electricity distribution company.
Upon successful completion of the program, you will be offered a permanent position within the business.
Further Information:

Please visit the Careers section of our website (Start Your Career) at www.powercor.com.au or www.citipower.com.au for specific information relating to each of the roles we are recruiting for.

Application Process:

Applications must be lodged on-line before the closing date of Friday 1st August 2008.

Candidates who are successful past the initial screening stage must be prepared to participate in a selection process which could include aptitude abilities testing, a face-to-face interview, on the job assessment and pre-employment medical examination.

Due to the number of applications received, unsuccessful candidates will be notified by email.

Candidates currently completing a pre-requisite subject are still eligible to apply so long as the pre-requisite subject has been successfully completed by the end of the 2008 academic year.

Please ensure that you have a valid email address when applying online, as you will be contacted via email through the various stages of the recruitment process.
