Bare trust or holding trust,sometimes also called custodian trust, is not a normal trust. You don't have to have it unless your smsf is entering a limited recourse borrowing arrangement. If that's the case, it'd be wise not to DIY if you don't understand all the requirements.
However, for other purposes, the property can be held by a normal trust in which your smsf is the only unit holder or one of the unit holders.
In summary, a trust is not necessary if your smsf is buying the property with its own money. If you have special needs, I suggest you seek professional advice. |
