You may take train from Central (SYD) to North Wollongong, and then take bus to University of Wollongong ($0.6 for one way).
There is one YHA which is close to Wollongong city mall, and also it is one dorm of UOW which is called Keiraview. Keiraview Accommodation is located in Keira Street, Wollongong. Keiraview Accommodation is a short walk to shops, beach and either Wollongong or North Wollongong train station. A range of rooms are available including 40 student rooms, which are single rooms with ensuites, TVs and a communal kitchen which has your own fridge and lockable cupboard.
