If your annual income is over $50000, it's better to buy to avoid medicare levy surcharge (1% of annual income).

I am with Medibank, about $1700 per year for the whole family. Excess and Co-PMT, we only used dental till now. But if your wife is planning to have another baby, it's better to have private insurence cover.

i am quite confusing about the medicare levy surcharge, saying 1% of taxable annual income will be paid to gov, who will be exempt from that? on family basis or individual basis?
