再请教一下,我们已经有了sas的了,图形界面的那种
还有必要用R么
This is a controversial topic and there are a lot of debates online. I try to be objective.
I assume you meant SAS Enterprise Guide.
From what you have described, I guess your organisation mainly uses these tools to do reporting and some routine analytical works. Correct me if i am wrong. In that case, SAS EG is pretty good. there is no compelling reason to switch to R, assuming license cost is not an issue to your organisation. R is famous for its steep learning curve.
R is ideal for more creative works, for example when you want to try some state-of-art techniques or build a statistical model that have never been built previously. That is why data scientists often like it. Keep in mind, R is a software that is by the statisticians, for the statisticians and of the statisticians. Your organisation could perhaps ask and answer the question: do you do a lot of statistical modelling - i don't mean calculate average etc. for reporting.
R is free. So your organisation can actually just have a try of it - see how people feel. You don't need to rush to a formal switch...All the companies I have worked use R, SAS and SQL together. it is noy always necessary to use one to replace the others. All in all, R is free - so why not have it in your toolbox:)
