Dear XXX
Thank you for the email sent on your behalf.
The time taken for onshore Partner Visa applications to be processed and for a decision to be made varies. There is currently a strong demand, and so the current average processing time for subclass 820 applications is around 13 months from lodgement. However, this is an average processing time, and the actual processing time for each application may vary significantly.
Generally, applications are considered in date order, however some applications will take longer to finalise than others. The department appreciates that you (along with all our clients) would like to have this application finalised as quickly as possible. The department thanks you for your patience and understanding, and would like to assure you that every effort is being made to finalise this application as soon as it is possible to do so.
Some applications receive priority processing. These cases include those previously refused that have then had a successful review, as well as applications which have special circumstances of a compelling or compassionate nature. Please note that applications requesting priority processing must provide their health assessments and police clearances before they will be considered. Further information on obtaining these mandatory documents is provided below.
Applications which may be decided more quickly include those involving family violence, and those which are "assessment ready" at lodgement.
If your application is within our average processing time, please help us meet our service standard by minimising contact to urgent enquiries only.
The department advises that all applicants should complete their health checks for permanent residency (820/801 visa) as soon as possible.
If you have not already done so, you will also need to provide police clearances. You will need to submit the original documents of police clearances from every country that you have been in for a total of 12 months or more in the last 10 years. This may also include Australia.
Please find attached information on the current processing of Partner Visa applications, including details on obtaining health assessments and police clearances, if required.
Further, please be advised that the National Police certificate you submitted for processing is not sufficient for immigration purposes. The department requires that you submit a Complete Disclosure Australia Federal Police (AFP) certificate. Please re-apply for the required certificate and submit the original into the Partner (Temporary) Processing section.
For information on obtaining an AFP certificate please click on the link: http://www.immi.gov.au/Help/Locations/Pages/Australia.aspx
Should any further information be required, a case officer will be in contact with you.
Yours sincerely
