Reporting to: Senior Scientist, Advanced Materials Research
People Management Responsibility: No

Objectives of the Position
•Conduct experimental and theoretical research assignments under guidance of research scientist
•Support lab team
•Take over responsibility in research projects
•Drive innovation, i.e. actively contribute solutions to research problems, propose new research projects
•Scientific support for development and technical service departments
Main Tasks:
•Under general supervision of lab team leader, independently perform routine scientific research tasks using standard techniques, procedures and equipment
•Summarize and document results in electronic lab journal, prepare technical reports
•Interpret results and suggest next experimental plan accordingly
•Prepare, run and maintain lab equipment such as reactors, analyzing equipment, etc.
•Perform general lab assignments (e.g. raw material inventory review, lab house-keeping) as assigned
•Comply with regulations concerning safety, health and environment
•Optional additional task: overtake responsibility for Research Shanghai team (e.g. Safety, IT, *)
•Support lab leader for project reviews, presentations, scientific reports, literature search and analysis
•Train, instruct and coach assistant chemists and chemists in daily technical tasks
REQUIREMENTS:
- Education: PhD in Polymer Science, Material Science, Chemistry, Polymer Engineering or Master of Science with long industry experience, lab manager experience in Polyurethane related industry.
- Working Experience: At least 7 years professional experience in research or development laboratories, e.g. fresh PhD from University.
- Technical & Professional Knowledge: Beneficial is a background in footwear related field work / rubber industry / elastomers
