Thinking about doing the Master of Applied Finance at Macquarie Uni

Im thinking about doing the Master of Applied Finance offered by Macquarie uni.

Anyone here would like to share some thoughts with me?

I reckon it is a challenging course, but well recognised in Asia. Besides, it helps me to better prepare for the CFA exams as well.

Just got sent below email from CFA Society of Sydney. There is a joint session of the course and CFA program.

"On Wednesday, 13th June, we will be holding a joint information session with the Macquarie University Applied Finance Centre (MAFC).  The purpose of the session is to provide information for prospective applicants for:


§         the Macquarie Master of Applied Finance program who also wish to undertake the CFA Program, or

§         the CFA Program on its own.


It will allow those who are considering entering the CFA Program an opportunity to hear about the Program first-hand from a senior member of CFA Institute.


The presenters are :


Dr Jan Squires, CFA, Head of Asia Pacific, CFA Institute, who will be speaking on the CFA Program.


Professor Phil Dolan, Director, Macquarie University Applied Finance Centre, who will be speaking on the Macquarie Master of Applied Finance program


The event will be held at 5:30 pm, Wednesday 13th June, at:-

Macquarie University Applied Finance Centre

Level 3, 10 Spring Street, Sydney"

我倒有两个朋友已经念完了，不过，都回国了。他们的反馈是，其一，必须有金融方面的工作经验，大部分本地同学都是做证券和investment bank的；其二，英语要超好，不是一般的好，大都是快节奏的人，思维和嘴巴要能跟上，否则讨论起来，完全靠边站；其三，不好找工作，主要是语言文化等沟通方面的问题。我两个朋友是国内big4的经验，一个回国后找不到相关工作，先找了个外企做internal auditor了，另外一个最后也是回到了big4，但是去了香港的big4，万幸做的不是审计，是跟金融行业相关的部门的项目，打算作为真正入行的突破口。

有没有性价比嘛，看每个人啦，不好说。

Thx for the info, guys, sounds really exciting.

Unfortunately, im in mel, so have to attend the infomation session here on 13 June.

I do have more than 2 yrs work experience in the finance industry, so don't really think I have problems to enrol the program.

No worries. I am not going either. Just got sent this email as I am a charter holder.

MU  offered  specialisation in each of the major areas of applied finance, including Funds Management, Corporate Finance, Financial Risk Management and Treasury.

Not bad but not much use either.
Put it in context, it is a lot more work than CPA I did.

couldn't agree with u more.

Dont really know whether I can handle it, full time job and doing CFA and Master of Applied Finace at the same time, but I think I give it a try.
