0ShareWhile police aren't being specific about the location of a break in where the rifle was stolen, they do believe Malcolm Naden, wanted for the murder of a woman, and the attempted murder of a police officer is still in the Gloucester/ Nowendoc area.
They are asking residents in this area to remain vigilant and contact police with any details of similar thefts, including clothing and food.
Assistance Commissioner Carlene York says 40 - 50 officers are still searching the bush daily, tracking and trying to identify where Malcolm Naden has been. They have covered more than 100km's of rugged terrain in unseasonably wet conditions.
Naden has been on the run for six years, but came back into the spotlight back in December 2011, when police raided a camp near Nowendoc, and the wanted man shot and injured an officer.
Months on, police say it is reports of thefts from homes which provide them with information about Naden. The latest theft reported from a homestead about 10 days ago included a .22 calibre semi automatic rifle and ammunition.
"It has been confirmed it is him," says Commissioner York, "We want the public to know he is armed and dangerous."
Anyone who has information in relation to Malcolm Naden should contact crime stoppers on 1800 333 000.
Police say if people believe they see Malcolm Naden, they should contact triple zero immediately.
