进入主题之前先向大家推荐一下ABC的Unleashed栏目:
http://www.abc.net.au/unleashed

Patrick Gettrust :

There is a very simple way for this problem never to occur again. Do not hole the CWG in an undeveloped country. We again see the problems with undeveloped countries like India and China as there is no security and major infrastructure flaws. Until these two countries become developed and actually have a functioning society and government there is no reason to risk peoples lives and money to make the people of these undeveloped nations feel better.
然后下面就炸了窝了,无数的澳洲人在质问他为什么把印度跟中国并列:

I don't think China should be brought into this. There is little doubt that given the opportunity to host an event such as this China would blow any other nation out of the water with what they would produce. Some of the feats of engineering in regards to bridge building and other public works achieved in China are truly amazing. Aike :

Why do you mention China? The Beijing Olympics was a masterpiece, something Australia can't dream of. India, indeed, is a different animal. Unreal :

Really? Says who?
I think Sydney Olympic is great too, but no, China outdone us in 2008. Look, that country has money, and has 5000 years of history, and has a system that can run anything with military efficiency. It's not a shame to be outdone (just a bit) by them. Felix :

Patrick, I was lucky enough to attend both the Sydney and the Beijing Olympics and I can assure you China has a very functional society and government. Perhaps the point should be that we shouldn't impose our artificially high standards on other countries.
The reality is a large percentage of the worlds athletes don't have first class facilities such as the AIS etc. yet they still have a desire to compete.
Perhaps it is we, the overdeveloped Countries, that are being unrealistic.
We scream level playing field, yet we want luxury seats and a gourmet meal.
Sport sure ain't what it used to be. Michael J :

Patrick,
In case you've forgotten or have been on planet Mars, China held arguably the most successful Olympic Games just two years ago. And They're currently holding a very successful World Expo in Shanghai. I don't think the Chinese will have any problems whatsoever holding the Commonwealth Games if they're asked to. Mustafa P :

For all its problems, China held a great Olympic games. Highly successful and it's on a much grander scale when compared to the commonwealth games.
The difference is that the Chinese government did what it took to ensure the highest quality well above and beyond what was the normal standard for it's citizens.
The South Africans also held a wonderful world cup despite the poverty of the majority of it's citizens.
It comes down to attitude and organisation. Maybe the Indian government can have a look at how these two countries have managed to hold an international event on such a grand scale. Frank and Fearless ®:

Comparisons are odious, but there was never any doubt that China would run a successful Olympics. Why? Because China's political system - while imperfect in terms of human rights - allows the state to plan and implement policy at the stroke of a pen.
India, on the other hand, inherited a democracy from the British Raj which has not kept pace with a changing world. It is inefficient. It is supported by a cumbersome civil service. It cannot respond quickly to given situations.
I hope that India's experience with the Commonwealth Games will herald a new mindset among the nation's leaders.
可见偏见和无知是可以被消灭的,消灭他们的唯一方式就是用事实说话。北京奥运的深远影响,已经开始在这里体现出来了!
