The Nexus One features a 3.7in AMOLED display, with a 800x480 resolution. The screen has a 100,000:1 contrast ratio and a response time of 1ms. It has an illuminated trackball which can emit different colors of light based on the type of notification being received. The phone has two microphones, one on the front and one on the back, to enable noise cancellation to reduce background noise during phone conversations. A standard 3.5 mm headphone jack is also provided.

The phone features a 1 GHz Qualcomm 8250 processor, 512 MB of RAM, a 4 GB microSD card, 512 MB of internal Flash storage, a 5MP auto-focus camera with LED flash and digital zoom, GPS receiver, light and proximity sensors, Bluetooth 2.1 + EDR, and 802.11b/g/n Wifi capabilities. It provides hardware decoding for H.263, H.264 and MPEG-4 video, and is capable of playing MP3, AAC+, Ogg Vorbis, WAV, and MIDI audio, and displaying the JPEG, GIF, PNG, and BMP image formats. It has a standard micro USB port rather than the proprietary HTC connector, and the microSD card slot allows expansion up to 32 gigabytes of card storage. Applications can only be installed to the 512MB internal flash memory, of which 190MB are available for that purpose. During unveiling, it was mentioned that Google might eventually lift this restriction after addressing security issues.

The phone weighs 130 grams (4.6 oz), with a height of 119 millimetres (4.7 in), a width of 59.8 millimetres (2.35 in), and a depth of 11.5 millimetres (0.45 in). It is powered by a removable 1400 mAh battery, expected to last up to 290 hours on standby, 10 hours talk time, or 5 hours while browsing the internet.

Australians who buy the phone abroad in hopes of using it with their local SIM card could be in for a rude shock. A Google Australia spokeswoman said the phone was not fully compatible with Telstra's Next G network, although it should operate on "most" GSM networks.

"The phone will work with nearly all GSM SIM cards worldwide (but) there are some carriers like AT&T in the US and Telstra Next G who have different 3G frequencies, so users can only access 2G or Edge networks with the current Nexus One," she said.

AGPS just grab some assistant data from reference points via IP communication, the benefit is to speed up the time to fix ur location, it still works without assistant data (without help from AGPS server), just will take longer time to fix.

Another benefit of A-GPS is mobile terminated location request, i.e. u can be tracked by other guys, with standalone GPS, it is not possible.

恩 比如偶的nokia 打开a-gps，会连nokia 自己的服务器，下载一些数据，每次只有5，6k，相当少

可以加速定位，一般一分钟之内就能定位。

还有种network based，看上去要联网，其实这个network指的是手机基站的网络，不是互联网网络，根本不产生任何上网流量，但是定位相当不准，也是只能辅助定位作用

It is IP communication, the reference point can be setup by operator or independent party, it does generate data traffic, however some operator can zero billing it if they want.

There is another kind of AGPS getting assistant data via control plane signalling, (not IP communication), but it is rarely used, as far as I know, it is only available in US to support its E911 service.

It doesn't matter if u don't live in rural area, Nexus doesn't support band 850MHz which is Telstra Next G band, however u can camp on 2100 band which is same as H3G, there is no much difference on the speed, just coverage, if you are ok with 3 coverage, you can use it on Telstra.

There is a big difference in speed between telstra's 2100 band and 850 band....

No really telstra's fault, it is google's choice to ignore certain frequency, likely due to AT&T didn't chip in any fund. No one really complained when blackberry and iPhone had 850 support instead of 900.

the actual difference is penetration, 850mhz band has better penetration hence better coverage, e.g in car parks, toilets

Yes, penetration is one of the difference, by nature 850mhz can penetrate better than 2100mhz. However since Telstra's 2100mhz network is basically same as Three's network, you know you will never achieve a glimpse of NextG's speed.

Not all resources can be allocated to a particular user for HSPA, also mobile application doesn't need very high throughput.

USB doggle are different use case, also there is no mobile with HSPA+.

A lot of those smart phones are been used as usb dongles through tethering, therefore difference in 2100/850 network can clearly be felt, also Telstra's 850mhz network has a lot less lag than 2100mhz network. It has nothing to do with been HSPA+ capable or not, simply because the 850mhz network is a superior network and a lot less congested than the 2100mhz network.
