ENGINE AND TRANSMISSION
Hilux's 2021 line models are still equipped with diesel and flex engines . However, the big news is the 15% power increase of the 2.8L 16V diesel engine, which now generates 204 hp. In addition, the torque for models equipped with a six-speed sequential automatic transmission also grew 11%, now generating 50.9 kgfm at 2,800 rpm.. Hilux equipped with a six-speed manual transmission (Chassis, Simple Cabin and Standard Power Pack) maintain a torque of 42.8 kgfm at 3,400 turns.
Toyota engineers have further improved the thermal efficiency and cooling level of the 2.8L propellant with reduced friction between materials.
Transmissions for diesel models are six-speed sequential automatic for the SRX, SRV and SR versions and six-speed manual for the Standard Power Pack, Single Cab and Chassis Cab versions.
