Wrong.
You don't go to the hospital, you go to the emergency department(ED) of a hospital. Emergency department(ED) is 'separated' from a typical 'hospital'.
Most public hospitals have EDs. Many private hospitals have EDs.
Few private hospitals offer bulk billed EDs.
Many private hospitals charge something ranging from $100-500 as an one-off fee for each visit and bulk billed all the tests.
Some private hospitals charge what ever they like.
Ambulance mostly send emergency patients to the nearest public hospitals(to private hospitals only in situations like the nearest public hospital is too far away and the patient is in critical condition), but patients don't have a choice.
In your case of emergency, if you call for an ambulance and an ambulance is allocated to you, you will be mostly likely sent to the ED of your nearest public hospital. If the EDs of public hospitals is too far away or too full, you might be sent to a private one. |
