First of all, density determines the quality of foam carpet underlay. Nothing else. Getting a higher density underlay would extend the life of your carpet.
In terms of acoustic performance, most carpet are pretty much doing similar job . For your instance, the difference between 2 underlay is only 3 dB which is almost nothing.On the thermal side, your carpet is a much better insulation compare to underlay.
For residential uses, I recommend to go for 100 KG Density (at least). 140 KG Density is great but would be an overkill in my view. 120KG gives great result in both acoustic and thermal performance. Dunlop Springtred Ultimate or Carpetmate Premium will be a perfect option . |
