I heard about this opensource project one year ago and wanted to try it but finally didn't go ahead.
And I think anyone want to try this should think carefully before you go ahead.
One of my friend bought Tesla, tried the autopilot feature on different roads, told me the feature is "chick ribs" on Australia road, it is not designed for Australia road. So I assume this opensource one wouldn't be better than Tesla's.
I am not sure what' the law enforcement and obligation on trying this, if let it autopilot on highway and being caught by police, I don't know what's the consequence it could cause. Australia always fall behind high technology, the police won't be happy if they catch an "Asia" looking guy "play such toy" (in their eyes, this probably just like a toy) while driving. If causing car accident unfortunately, insurance company won't cover you if they know you were trying this "toy".
But I think this project is a very good project for learning.
