I pre-ordered the A7II +FE 280-70/3.5-5.6 OS kit together with a free Metabones IV adapter and $30 sony gift voucher right after A7 II was announced in 2014 and got a pretty good deal of AUD$1550 for the whole lot.
I sold the Metabones right away simply because it was not practical to perform auto focus with my Canon EF lenses. After contemplating the pros and cons for a long time, I finally sold the kit. Apart from its compact size, light weight and in body stabilizer, it was just not a user friendly camera.
As a SLR shooter for over 20 years, the A7II is a terrible camera in terms of ergonomics, manual settings, auto focus, battery life and overall build quality. It was my worst investment ever. However, there are a lot of Sony fan boys on the internet boasting how great the Alpha system is. You make your judgment by yourself.
Recently, I tried out the new A7RIII which is much better but the mirrorless is not there yet for me to consider. It's not there yet.
