The note you were referring to in the picture above may just be representing two of the same notes sounding in different voices. So if the piece was sung, there would be two singers singing the same pitch just for one note but overall the two singers would be singing different tunes. It's a little like how two different train lines pull into a station through one line, but separate after passing through the station. In this situation, the two notes are both semiquavers so you would just play it as if it were one semiquaver.
