PROGRAM 2
Whoever said that classical music was relaxing? Mozart's Symphony No. 25 opens with such gripping intensity that it could almost be a movie soundtrack. In fact, it is a movie soundtrack, and if you've seen the 1984 movie Amadeus you've heard it, played by the Academy under their founding director, Sir Neville Marriner. Now, under the leadership of Joshua Bell, they revisit this exhilarating work, along with Mozart's noble Violin Concerto in D, with Bell as soloist, and Beethoven's ground-breaking third Symphony, the Eroica. This is music to keep you on the edge of your seat.
