Hereditary ataxia is an inherited disorder, which could be from autosomal dominant/recessive or X-linked or even mitochondrial. No cure for it at all.
Given your classmate's family history, it seems to be autosomal dominant as most of siblings, disregarding of sex, have the disease. In Australia, it usually needs palliative care with comforts management. |
