It's more to do with the bank charges. However, if it's AUD Demand Draft and payable in Australia, it's the same as local cheque which take 3 days to clear. When you issue DD in China, the bank normally has a correspondent bank in Australia to receive the AUD, either ANZ, CBA etc. Then you should see those banks name printed on the left hand side from bottom of the cheque. In your case as I don't know how it looks, seems CBA needs to collect the funds from China, therefore, charges you $40 each. |
