As one of Australia’s leading Retail Pharmacy groups The My Chemist/Chemist Warehouse Group is continuously expanding and experiencing major growth. Our dynamic and fast paced operation is based in Preston and we are now seeking an SQL Database Administrator/Developer to join the team.
About the Role
The SQL Database Administrator/Developer will join the System Operations team within the IT department. You will be required to work as part of a team that provides operational support for systems and services in our evolving database infrastructure. You will interact internally with the IT team and directly with our users to ensure continuity and customer satisfaction of services. In addition to direct operational responsibilities, you will participate in developing the operational models, processes, procedures, and organizational structures required to maintain and mature the systems.
Key Responsibilities may include, but not restricted to:
• Ongoing maintenance and administration of assigned systems
• Adherence to policies, processes, and procedures within the designated areas of responsibility
• Assist with execution of projects related to areas of responsibility
• Developing, configuring and maintaining databases and related systems to include writing well-formed, efficient SQL queries, views, jobs, and stored procedures to collect, process and present relevant data
• Assist with recovery of lost or corrupt data
• Assist in the administration of the SQL Change Management process
• Ensure the integrity and security of data from unauthorized individuals
• Respond quickly to any database requests or issues and to ensure customer satisfaction of services
• Assist in future planning and architecture of database environments
• Develop and maintain proper documentation for procedures, processes, designs, builds in regards to the database infrastructure
Skills and Experience
• 1+ year MS SQL Server DBA/Developer experience or related formal database education or DBA certification
• General familiarity with SQL Server 2008 R2, 2012, and 2014
• Basic understanding of SQL Server database architecture such as cardinality, indexes, etc.
• Basic knowledge of database security and authentication using Active Directory
• Must possess strong written and verbal communication skills
• Flexible to work overtime as required
• Proactive approach to tasks and projects
• Keen to learn, explore, and improve
• Basic knowledge of Windows Server operating system, storage, TCP/IP Network, and application.
