subject: 143 contributory parents visa onshore grant
Dear Julian,
Hope you are well.
I am reaching out to you for my parents’ contributory parents visa subclass 143 application. With the recent media speculation on Alan Tudge’s temporary concession on partner’s visa to be granted onshore, it is necessary and urgent to introduce another bill to expand the temporary onshore granting for 143 visa.
My parents are requested to pay the 2nd VAC and leave Australia for the 143 visa to be granted, which is not a problem at normal period. But due to global COVID-19 travel restrictions, there is no direct flight between 澳洲居住城市(where we are living) and 国内居住城市(my parent's home city in China). Also, my parent is over seventy years old, who is at very high risk to take a long time international flight during this unsafe period.
Furthermore, they have to fly back to Australia to activate their visa which wastes the precious place in airline and hotel quarantine. Frankly, in the middle of a pandemic, the Government should not be forcing people to take risky and expensive trips overseas. The Government should be preserving precious quarantine places for the 39,000 stranded Australians wanting to come home, rather than wasting them on people who are already here in Australia. It simply does not make any sense.
I understand you are working with the federal government to introduce the change by next year, but we need this to happen by Jan 2021 to avoid impact on my parents.
Please speak for your electorate.
Thank you.
Regards,
