where is your shop? If it is in melbourne, maybe one day I will drop by and have a cup of coffee. ...
Unfortunately, I am at Sydney.
The only reason I shared my experience with everyone here is to show that there are always different ways of doing things, 猫有猫道,狗有狗路;鸡鸣狗盗,各行其路。
LZ, you are very aggressive and you have achieved something amazingly. Congratulation! I respect you because you are a hard worker, not only in the Cafe business, but also in your life.
Some others who have challenged you in your previous postings are most likely working in a different environment. That's why they may think that 2 B pump 8 kg a day is difficult. But for me, as I have been there, done that, I know that you can do it with a good system. In fact, during summer time, my cafe can do 6 kg before 9:30am. As such, there is no point for you to argue with them on how you did it and so on, so for.
The similar applies to the fact that you can negotiate a good price with Coke. You can do it because you WANT to do it to maximize your profit. But I don't want to do it because I never know how to argue with others. This is probably from my personality. I am not saying that you are rude, but I never argue with anyone outside of my family because I was educated to behave like this. I believe that there must be someone who is similar to me ... The only way I do is to research the market and know different channels of suppliers to seek the best I can have ... In fact, I don't even look after my stocks; they are all controlled by my workers. I know by fact that they have done a good job. For example, my chef has negotiated the price of Chicken Breast Fillet from $9.8/kg, to $8.5, then $8.2, $7.5, $7.2 and now it is $6.8/kg. I don't know how he did it, but this is just the fact. We use around 75 - 100kg chicken per week, and delivered everyday fresh in the morning.
All after all, to me, what really make sense is that to do a good business, you need to be a HARD worker. You need to work on the strength you have and fully utilize the resource around you.
-- If you are a good chef, always make fresh new menus; your customers will come for that.
-- If you are a good baristar, make every single cup of coffee the best you can make.
-- If you are good at marketing, always design attractive deals to increase your traffic.
-- If you know nothing about those skills, but you are a "people person", go to talk to your customers, your staff and your suppliers.
-- Worse come to worse, if you knows nothing about the above, and unfortunately, you are a business owner, what can you do?
DWYSYWD (Do What You Said You Will Do)
in simple words, being HONEST. Everyone appreciates that. So, you have the most powerful weapon in your hand!
To me, I am a very relaxed lazy bustard, so I stick to the bottom of what I can do, nothing more than that. And most importantly,
I AM HAPPY BEING HONEST. |
